I learned a cool trick today. It's called spot metering. Most pictures are taken in the matrix (or multi-zone)mode, meaning all aspects of the scene are taken in by the camera. When you set the camera to spot metering, the camera will only select a very small area of the scene. This works very well in very high contrast scenes. I am still trying out with spot metering but here are a couple examples.
f/5.6, 1/80, ISO 400
f/5.3, 1/100, ISO 1600
Happy Friday!
